Pioneer Square, Seattle Washington
Hello everyone! For those who know me, know that I’m a bit of a history buff. Pioneer Square is my favorite spot for engagement photos, for that reason.
If you want an urban feel to your engagement and/or wedding photographs, Pioneer Square is your spot. Pioneer Square is known as the birthplace of Seattle. The area is a richly historic place known for its Roman and Gothic styled architecture, art festivals, boutiques of all types, and tons of amazing food. Pioneer Square Engagement Shoot
Roz, John and I started off at King Street Station, located right next to Century Link Field. This is a great spot for some classy, indoor shots. From there, we walked down the brick and cobblestone roads, taking candid pictures. With all of the architecture, the opportunities are endless.
The next stop was Zeitgeist coffee for a quick boost of energy. Then we headed over to Grand Central Bakery. The brick building is a great spot for photos. The ivy that grows alongside the building, provides a great backdrop with a vintage feel.
For the grand finale, we ventured up to the Smith Tower, which is Seattle’s first skyscraper. The Smith Tower offers a quick walk-through tour of Old Seattle before heading up to the observatory. With a 360 degree view of Seattle and the Southern Puget Sound, with the right weather, you will catch breath-taking views of the sun setting behind the Olympic Mountains and the alpenglow on Mt. Rainier. Unfortunately, the weather here in the Northwest doesn’t always like to cooperate. Due to this issue, I’m always ahead of the weather.
After we completed the shoot, I headed over to Casco Antigo for some tacos and margaritas. This has been my spot for years and sort of a must that I eat there after a shoot in Pioneer Square. If you love Mexican food, want a good spot in the summertime to eat outdoors, I highly recommend this spot to my couples for a quick bite after our shoot. Whether or not you’re local or you’re from out of town and need a good tour guide of the area, I would love to show you around! Included below, are a few spots that I would recommend checking out while you’re in Pioneer Square.
